Frequently Asked Questions Regarding UV-gard and Remine Coat. Click on each question on the right for the answer.

  1. What is Remine? (Pronounced "reh-min" in English and "re-mine" in Japanese)
  2. Remine is a very clean "Liquid Crystal Coating." There's nothing like it!
Please Read the "About Remine" "FOREWORD" for a detailed description of Remine.

  3. Is Remine LTA "approved"?
  4. The short answer is - "Yes!" but this needs clarification. Both the JPJ and LTA (formerly ROV) & now the Land Transport Authority, LTAs in most countries, will not "approve" any product per se, because it's tantamount to endorsement of a product, which isn't their job. What they do do, is carefully evaluate new products for compliance to road regulations/laws, and if these are not violated, they provide a "Letter of no Objection" to its use. We have this letter.
Remine Customers are provided a free of charge VLT Certificate.

  5. What are LTA and JPJ (Malaysia) regulations on vehicle (cars) glass tinting?
  6. In S'pore, the VLT (Visible Light Transmission) required is

    • 70% net after tinting of windscreen and front windows.
    • 50% net after tinting for the rest of the car.

In M'sia, the VLT (Visible Light Transmission) required is
    • 70% net after tinting of windscreen only.
    • 50% net after tinting for the rest of the car.

If you've installed film onto your car, you should ask - Does the net value comply? Why should one worry about this? The penalties are heavy for non-compliance. Vis
1st] You'll be asked to send your car to PSB to check the VLT (costs S$195/car).
2nd] If you fail, you'll have to remove the film, maybe costing you as much as to put it on!
3rd] Don't forget the hefty fine! Up to S$500/-?
4th] Total cost could well exceed S$2,000/-.
5th] Surely, no one needs the constant worry of being caught!

  7. How much infrared/heat does Remine block off?
  8. Remine blocks off roughly 33% infrared light or roughly 1/3rd of the IR rays! That's 10 deg C off 30°C, entering the car through your glass. That's a lot! Just a 2°C temperature difference inside versus outside an air-conditioned home can be felt.
PLEASE NOTE: Infrared heat is actually good for your health. It's used in Sports medicine, treatment of rheumatic pains & improving circulation. UV light is what everyone should worry about! It burns, damages & can kill us. Remine Blocks off Up to 99% of all 3 types (A,B & C) of UV light (competitors only block UV-B).

  9. How well does it bond to glass?
  10. Remine bonds 100% to glass.
Adhesion strength is Peel Tested. (JISK5400 1mmX100 adhesive tape peeled)

  11. Is it Resistant to Physical Damage?
  12. Yes, very much so. It has a "pencil hardness" of 2H to 5H (latest version) (to JISK5400 standards). Gently scratch it with your fingernails. You'll see - it's really tough stuff!. However, as with film type Laminates, metal or glass itself, one can always abuse any finish with sharp hard objects - if one tries hard enough.

  13. Is it resistant to chemicals?
  14. Yes it is very chemical resistant. Visualise the following tests done:

Spot dropping of 5% Caustic Soda, 24 hoursNo change
Spot dropping of 5% Sulfuric Acid, 2 hoursNo change
Cleaning with "Glaster" & "Windex" Glass cleanersNo change
Rubbing with X-lene 200 timesNo change
Rubbing with Gasoline 200 timesNo change

  16. Only we can remove it with a propriety neutralizing removal compound.
